On 10 July 2023, Pick n Pay Namibia and the Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU) signed a substantive agreement effective for the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, applicable to all Bargaining Unit employees of the retail company. The agreement includes a basic salary increase of 7% as well as a housing allowance increase for permanent employees.
On the signing of the agreement, Graeme Mouton, Pick n Pay Namibia Managing Director (MD), stated: “On behalf of the Board, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the entire PnP Team, I would like to sincerely express our deep appreciation to the negotiating teams from the union and the company for their exemplary handling of the negotiations and subsequent decisions. Throughout the process, they consistently prioritised the best interests of both the company and its employees.”
Timothy Izaks, Pick n Pay Namibia Manager: Human Capital, shared his gratitude for the efficient deliberations: “I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the negotiating teams from the Union, including the shop stewards, and the Company for the manner in which they have handled the negotiations. During the negotiations process both parties engaged in constructive dialogue ensuring the best interests of both the company and its employees were duly considered. The signing of this agreement will thus enable us to focus on the deliverables of F24 and beyond.”
According to Protasius Shitongeni, NAFAU Windhoek Branch Organiser: “I express my sincere gratitude to the Pick n Pay (Team) negotiation committee for their outstanding efforts in negotiating in good faith.
