Akwenye: “I am excited and honoured to serve not only as a member but also as the chairperson of the first audit committee of the office of the Judiciary. Having previously assisted the office of the Judiciary, they saw the potential and quality of my work and thus elected me to serve as a chairperson of the audit committee.”

The functions of the Audit Committee will amongst others include managing the functional performance of the Internal Audit Division; reviewing the financial statements; reviewing the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes, the adequacy, reliability and accuracy of financial information; reviewing internal audit plans; overseeing effective corporate governance including compliance with applicable laws, regulations and legislations; reviewing Auditor General’s reports, and any other related function resonating in the purview of the Audit Committee.

Akwenye will serve as chairperson for three years ending 2021. Akwenye: “A person leading a committee of this nature must be seen to have the highest personal standards with regards to honesty, reliability, transparency, fairness and  reliability to his/her role, and those are the key contributions amongst others that I will bring forth during my chairmanship.”

NBL Finance Director, Graeme Mouton: “I am extremely proud of Ndeshi for this achievement. This speaks volumes of her work ethic, professionalism and dedication, not only as an outstanding NBL employee, but also a passionate contributor of knowledge and skills to society at large. We wish her all the best in this new chapter of her journey, and have no doubt that she will excel in this very significant role in serving our country.”
