NBL donates state-of-the-art breathalyzers to NAMPOL

NBL donate breathalyzers

With the festive season right around the corner, state-of-the-art breathalyzers were handed over to the Namibian Police (NAMPOL) last week, by Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) – a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group -, in reaffirmation of its support of curbing road accidents in the country, as well as promoting safer and responsible road usage.

Handing over the donation on behalf of NBL, Managing Director Marco Wenk reflected on the journey NBL has walked with NAMPOL for more than a decade in the fight against irresponsible road usage through its ‘Don’t Drink & Drive’ and ‘Enjoy Responsibility’ campaigns, amongst other initiatives including the NBL DRINKiQ Program – an educational tool that encourages responsible drinking, behavioral change, and a healthy attitude when consuming alcohol. Wenk: “Today’s handover to NAMPOL is but a reassurance of our commitment to curbing road accidents and irresponsible alcohol consumption in the country. We dedicate ourselves to promoting responsible road usage, and fighting inconsiderate and careless behavior of driving while under the influence of alcohol. We have, and will continue to support NAMPOL in its efforts to keep death off our roads, and trust that this humble donation will make a difference – we hope it will contribute to much less road accidents this festive season.”

Accepting the donation on behalf of NAMPOL, Deputy Inspector-General for Administration, Major-General Anne-Marie Nainda thanked NBL for its efforts towards curbing road accidents and related matters. Nainda: “In 2006 NBL donated 10 breathalyzers, and from thereon has played a significant role in road safety campaigns, especially in equipping our road blocks. The donation of these machines will have significant impact, in that these state-of-the-art equipment transforms a one-hour transaction of establishing actual alcohol levels, to a 5-minute experience. It is a very accurate machine, which will contribute significantly to efficiency during our operations. We are extremely grateful for this donation, and further reassure our relationship with NBL going forward, and hope to strengthen the impact this relationship has on road safety in the country.”

NBL donated two (2) state-of-the-art breathalyzer machines valued at N$200 000, 00 EACH.
