TAP 2019

Seven (7) Namibian graduates were on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 officially welcomed on board the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group’s Talent Attraction Program (TAP) for 2019, by the O&L Group Executive Chairman, Sven Thieme and Group Director: Human Capital, Berthold Mukuahima.

The new intake brings the total of O&L TAP participants to 90 since the program’s inception 12 years ago. At the official welcoming of the new intake, Mukuahima said the TAP program has over the years proven to be a significantly powerful tool in building confident leaders in their respective areas of work, and that it has become a significant reflection of the O&L Group vision of ‘being the most progressive and inspiring company’. Mukuahima: “Passionate about, and dedicated to education and development – which is evident through its ongoing support of local education and the development of young people, the O&L TAP program speaks directly to our value ‘We grow people’, and our purpose of ‘Creating a future, enhancing life’ – a purpose born from our passion of contributing to building a better, greater and outstanding Namibia.  We have to create employment opportunities and invest in our young people because they are this country’s future. Our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) agenda greatly emphasizes on this passionate commitment to developing our young ones, and supporting education in this country. We believe that investing in the youth and young adults, and contributing to inspiring, and equipping them with the tool of further professional and personal development is one of the key elements in a prosperous future for this nation.”

During his address, Thieme applauded the O&L Human Capital team for the successful implementation of the TAP program over the years. Thieme: “Under the leadership of the O&L Group Human Capital Director, the O&L Group Human Capital department has done a tremendous job with the TAP program over the past 12 years. A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Human Capital team for growing the TAP program into the power tool it has become. Your dedication and commitment to this development tool is what makes it the success it is today. Well done!” Thieme further encouraged the newly introduced participants to make the best of this opportunity. Thieme: “The O&L Group has endless opportunities for those in the group who are ready to thrive and be great successes. It is a very exciting family to be a part of. You now have the platform to build yourself a great career and promising future for you and your family. It is all up to you at the end of the day. Your success depends on you. You have this wonderful opportunity which thousands of other graduates only dream of. What you make of it, is completely up to you. How much you grow during this programme will be determined by your own attitude.”

TAP is also linked to a Mentorship program, as a support tool for the participants. Mentors are responsible for motivating, advising and guiding each participant to achieve their development objectives. In simple terms, the mentor is expected to hold the hand of the mentee as he/she goes through the program as well as the mentee discovering the requirements of the world of work.
