Windhoek Karneval (WIKA) 2024: Celebrating 70 years of tradition, joy and culture significance

The Windhoek Karneval (WIKA), proudly sponsored by Namibia’s largest privately held consortium, the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, is set to ignite Windhoek for 10 days with an explosion of colour, music, and tradition as it celebrates an incredible milestone – 70 years of bringing joy to the hearts of Namibians and visitors alike.

This year’s theme, “Applause, Applause, Full Throttle Ahead,” encapsulates the spirit of boundless joy and exhilaration that WIKA promises to deliver. From pulsating performances by international acts to showcasing the vibrant culture of Namibia, WIKA 2024 is shaping up to be an unforgettable extravaganza.

“As a company deeply rooted in Namibia’s rich cultural heritage, the O&L Group is proud to support the Windhoek Karneval (WIKA), a celebration that perfectly embodies our foundation of authenticity, care, and passion. WIKA’s 70-year tradition of bringing together diverse communities, celebrating freedom of speech, and fostering unity resonates deeply with our commitment to creating meaningful connections and nurturing the spirit of togetherness. We believe that WIKA not only enriches the cultural tapestry of Windhoek but also serves as a powerful platform for promoting inclusivity, joy, and the vibrant spirit of our beloved Namibia. It is our privilege to support this iconic event that continues to inspire and unite people from all walks of life”, said O&L Group Executive Chairman, Sven Thieme.

Joining this momentous occasion are renowned performers such as the electrifying HSO Band from Eschweiler, the incomparable Party-Schlager star Peter Wackel, and the much-anticipated Namibian debut of “Die Höhner” from Cologne, Germany. Their performances promise to captivate audiences and keep spirits soaring high throughout the festivities.

“Embracing Namibia’s rich tapestry of diversity and Windhoek’s breathtaking beauty, WIKA offers a unique blend of traditional German and international entertainment infused with a distinct Namibian flair. It’s an experience unlike any other, where cultures collide, and traditions unite to create memories that last a lifetime.
